| Monument to the Living Location: St. Paul, Minnesota Finally a monument to the living veteran. The monument came at time when veterans need a positive focus. It exposes the veteran in a very human way, with dignity. Monument to the Living portrays a nineteen-year-old kid in full combat gear, asking a question that can be phrased a hundred different ways. For many of us it asks, “Why do you forget us?” |

| WWI Doughboy Location: Rome, Georgia “Doughboy” was the nickname for American soldiers during WWI. It seems to be associated with the dumpling shaped buttons worn by union soldiers in France. The term lost favor after the war and was replaced in common usage by “G.I.” He stands at the Tomb of the Known Soldier in Rome, GA. |
